About Our Practitioners
Y Thuan La, L.Ac
Y Thuan La is a Board Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist with a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Yo San University. She is Queer-trans-identified, and a refugee who is fluent in Cantonese, mandarin and English. In addition, Y Thuan is a certified Yoga Instructor as well as a Reiki Master practitioner giving her a unique perspective into how the the subtle body integrates with the mind and spirit.
At the age of one, she immigrated to the United States with her parents as Chinese-Vietnamese refugees. She carries a deep empathy for the hardships that immigrants face, as she remembers her own parents who worked several jobs to survive while navigating a new country with no initial English-language skills.
The scars and markings on her father’s hands from the heavy machinery and strong cleansing agents he used at work are a powerful inspiration to Y Thuan. Many immigrants like her father faced physical and emotional challenges to create life in a new country while also reconciling with loss of country and loss of loved ones from war.
Studying empowering subjects like Asian American Studies and Women Studies during undergraduate studies strengthened her commitment to justice and the need for holistic wellness. She is a strong advocate for immigrants, refugees, people of color, women and queer and trans communities.
She employs a holistic model of healing that encourages health as a journey of self-discovery and daily practice. She’s also an innovative leader in health and actively creates platforms of integrative health in which indigenous medical practices and modern modalities from these lineages are provided equitable attention post-colonialism. In this model patients are encouraged to demystify their relationships with their body that can occur from top-down authoritative models of health and move into an embodied and aware relationship with health. When mind-body-spirit merge in a person’s awareness, we grow into freedom rather than a survival state of being.
Y Thuan is most inspired by seeing the shifts into embodiment and spiritual-holistic awareness. The change and healing inward spirals outward into peace and oneness with nature, earth, and our universe. She is deeply inspired by the roots of traditional chinese medicine and asian spiritual practices.
Y Thuan has completed additional professional training at the Orthopedic Specialty Clinic at Yo San, as well as intensive, advanced clinical training coupled with seminars at the most prestigious Acupuncture Academy in China: The China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center, Institute of Acupuncture and Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. She also interned at the Wellness Center at LAC/USC Medical Center, treating patients for pain who otherwise would not have access to acupuncture and holistic health interventions. Her clinical experiences have included cases of: bells palsy, auto-immune skin conditions, anxiety/depression, orthopedic and musculo-skeletal conditions, and more.

Sau Sum Cho, L.Ac
My life has not been a straight path.
I have been in multiple career paths, various countries, relationships, and religions. However, one thing stays constant throughout the journey - I have listened to my heart’s calling, and gone along with it, with all the curves and valleys.
I found that before I could embrace changes, I was often stuck, for a VERY long time, denying my being, my desires, my intuition, and my potential. I resisted change. I did not acknowledge that I had power in creating my reality and shadow. The more the mind and anxious emotions resisted ((by creating beliefs of shame, fear, unworthiness, etc) to prevent the soul from evolving, the more diseases manifested in my physical body, in the forms of neck rigidity, wrist pain, lower back weakness, acid reflux, breast lumps, and insomnia.
After receiving consistent acupuncture on a weekly basis, after each treatment I felt a sense of groundedness that prevailed my whole being. I never realized how tense I was in my mind, emotion, and body. Along with yoga, reiki, meditation, therapy, encouraging words from others and myself, I became more compassionate to all parts of me, and let go of stress that I internalized from other people. When my body felt more relaxed, my heart felt more open. Engaging with life changes seemed borderline like a fun challenge! It was a transformative experience.
I graduated with a Master Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine) from Dongguk University Los Angeles in 2018, which entailed 3000+ hours of training and clinical work. I also interned at the prestigious Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, and witnessed the power of acupuncture and herbs being applied in distinct medical departments. Currently, I specialize in TMJ, fertility, skincare, and digestion. My favorite area of study is herbal medicine. I incorporate Chinese herbs as part of my lifestyle.
For my fellow life travelers, I would like to offer a safe and comforting space for the healing of mind, body, and spirit to occur.
I welcome your presence and hope that our time together will provide inspiration to recognize your needs, recalibration and nourishment for your body, and reaffirmation of your power to continuous growth to create the life that brings your heart true joy.
I would like to show you the winding path I took before I realized acupuncture, herbs and healing resonate with my heart. I hope you will find it encouraging in your own journey too.
